At Coverings 2026, Ceramiche Refin brings to Las Vegas a vision of ceramics as a living, ever-evolving matter—where artistic research, material experimentation, and architectural design converge—confirming Refin’s identity as a creative laboratory focused on exploring new expressive possibilities for contemporary surfaces.
At the heart of this edition is Metamorphoses, a project developed within the framework of Refin DTS – Daring Art Explorations, a research program dedicated to contemporary art that investigates the concept of ‘dare’ through collaborations with internationally renowned artists. First conceived as an artistic work and presented as a debut at Milan Design Week 2025, Metamorphoses has now evolved into a collection of porcelain stoneware coverings, born from a dialogue between the artist Oliver Laric and Refin Lab.
The project explores metamorphosis as a continuous process of transformation, translating it into a ceramic surface rich in meaning and sensory depth. Metamorphoses Variation represents the industrial translation of the original work: a structured surface inspired by lenticular technology, featuring a dual soul—smooth and textured—and a special metallic finish applied by means of a handcrafted process. Depending on light, installation, and viewing angle, the surface offers ever-changing perceptions, making it a dynamic and evolving experience.
Alongside Metamorphoses, Refin presents at Coverings 2026 a selection of collections that further reinforce the narrative of matter in transformation. Ink and Osmos, both previously presented at Cersaie, offer two complementary interpretations of the contemporary surface: Ink explores the graphic mark as an artistic, intimate, and narrative gesture, while Osmos reinterprets concrete through layered and textured patterns, in which time and natural elements leave visible traces. Two distinct languages, yet united by a strong conceptual tension and a constant attention to the sensory dimension of the project. The exhibition is completed by Eras and Prestigio Kaleidos, two collections that expand Refin’s material lexicon, offering a contemporary take on stone and marble in a blend of design rigor and expressive richness.
Finally, a central role is given to Reliefs, the range of three-dimensional porcelain stoneware coverings that introduces a new perceptual depth to the surface. Through the dialogue between structure, graphics, and light, Reliefs acts as a design toolbox, which can be applied across collections and designed to enhance walls, architectural volumes, and furnishing elements, offering a wide range of customization options.
