A new Sacmi facility is now opening in the heart of the most important American ceramic-making district where several major Italian companies have also recently invested. This latest facility will focus on after-sales services to strengthen the Group’s strategic positioning in North America.

Clear-cut regulations, minimal bureaucracy and above all a market enjoying double-digit growth: these are the reasons why some of the biggest international ceramic groups – including leading Italian firms – have opened their own subsidiaries in Tennessee, the American state that is home to the largest ceramic manufacturing district in the US. As of today, they can also count on assistance from the latest Sacmi USA branch, located in the town of Brentwood.

After the lease agreement signature for the building housing the new branch, the spare parts warehouse and assistance service for local customers have been up and running since the end of February. Then, over the coming weeks, construction of the offices and the new facility’s service areas will be completed: Sacmi technicians and staff will operate out of here, within what is one of the ceramic industry’s most promising and dynamic ceramic districts.

Sacmi USA has been on the American market since 1994, providing assistance and spare parts to the ceramic industry. It also has a workshop dedicated to the manufacture and overhaul of punches and dies. With a team of over 30 employees and stocks valued at over $ 7 million, Sacmi is already a major player on this market and is ready to play a pivotal role in the next stage of growth of the US ceramic industry. Last year industry-related exports to the US increased by 32% (source: Confindustria Ceramica); the USA is, in fact, the biggest outlet market for Italian-made tiles and is, therefore, strategic to all the major technology suppliers who have their technological/manufacturing bases in Italy (especially Emilia-Romagna). Suffice it to say that out of 1300 employees in the industry in Tennessee, over 850 work for Emilia-Romagna-based companies that have opened a local manufacturing facility there.

That’s why Sacmi – always keen to ensure it remains as close as possible to both customer and market – has decided, following decades of success by Sacmi USA, to open a subsidiary in Brentwood: not just as a reference point for after-sales services but also as a bridgehead towards ever-more effective Group positioning on the North American ceramics market.
